Breaking Bad...habits...

Oy.

Damn, I'm a bit behind in these already.

Now that Drake Mandible has become the primary focus of my BCA project, I need to keep a regular blog as I go along, which should be a lot easier than I making it on myself.

ANYWAYS:

So, what many of you  Mandible Maniacs (yes that's a term I coined myself- shut up!) might not know is that I didn't actually write the individual chapters week-to-week. I actually began writing whilst ushering for USQ's production of Midsummer Nights Dream back in 2011. Fun fact: I pretty much wrote the entire thing on my trusty little iPod touch, around 13,000 words all up.
And let me tell you, it's not easy writing on a small little touch screen with pudgy digits like mine, but I liked the convenience  of being able to have it on me wherever I went.

I figured, what with Uni and my inherent inability to focus, it'd be really difficult for me to actually come up with an idea, write, edit and post it on a weekly basis (and this coming from a guy who wants to write comics!) and so I decided to have it all written out beforehand than only update the story each week. I didn't really have a structure in place, I basically just wrote whenever the fancy took me: Bus trips, car trips, even by aeroplane that time I went overseas.  I did a lot of writing in the wee hours of the morning while lying in bed, waiting for the Sandman to do his business. I don't really recommend doing that, when you finally wake up and read what you've written, it tends not to make a lot of sense, if it's even in English.
Eventually, after a good year and a bit of sporadic scribbling (figurativly, of course), I finally finished all 52 instalments and was ready to start sharing my brainchild with the interwebz.

As I said, now that DM has essentially become my BCA project, I need to develop a much stricter writing regime. Regimen. At least for the next 8 weeks or so. I mean, I don't have to be doing it every day (though that might not be a bad idea) but I can't just leave it for weeks at a time when the whim strikes me with a rubber mallet.

I need a set time. I'm thinking maybe 8-10pm ish seems like it might be good. Maybe I'll have to shoot for an earlier time, but we'll see how it goes. Now anyone who knows me, knows how easily distr....ooh...monkeys!  So maybe one of you decidedly delectable dudes & dudettes could give me a friendly (or less than) reminder to get some writing done, that would be muchly appreciated. I mean you probably won't get anything out of it, other than like a credit or a special thanks, but if this thing inexplicably makes money in the distant future as a Hollywood Blockbuster, you'll probably get  a nice little sumthin' sumthin'.

Again, another reminder, I am to post the new updates each Friday and I would LOVE it if you guys could give me (specific) feedback, preferably by Monday. I wanna know what you guys like, what works and what doesn't. And don't hold back. I am  a big boy, so I don't mind if you rip me a new one, I'll just store the hurt away for later use when I enter my "Tormented Existential Art-House" phase ;)

So, get yourself into a disciplined writing cycle. Couldn't be that hard, right?

Right?

Nate.

PS:

On another note, a big "CHOOKAS" to the third year actors at USQ, whose production of Winters Tale opens tomorrow night. If you have the opportunity to check it out, I highly recommend it. These kids are seriously talented. (Yes, Marcus, that includes you, mate!)

So

CHOOKAS

for opening, guys, can't wait to see it! I know you're gonna knock 'em dead. I'd do more cheerleader-type stuff, but I'm allergic to pompoms and you guys REALLY don't need that mental image.

Whoops...too late :p
