The Minutiae of Mandible, #0.

Well, let's begin from the start (a place, I'm told, is a very good place to begin.)

I don't remember when I had the idea exactly (wish I'd noted the date) Dad suggested using Facebook to promote some of the writing I'd been doing (mainly on my blog) which I considered, then decided to take it a step further.
I like to think that I write vaguely amusing status update

s, which in a way are a sort of micro-stories in themselves, and I thought "Well why not write a series of interconnected micro-stories and post each segment up on Facebook for people to read?"

I used to love reading the serialized stories in the old School Magazines Dad used to bring home, so I decided that I'd use a similar style: each section will be an entertaining little story in it's own right, but will also be part of an overall story-arc.

The other idea behind this project was to allow me to just write and see what would happen as I allowed a central protagonist and his world to expand and grow.

Quietly, he climbed up the ladder of the four metre diving board, planning on making a good, first impression with a 10 point swan-dive with three twists. As he prepped himself with a few small bounces, however, she turned to face him.
Caught off guard by the radiant smile she gave him, his foot slipped off the board and he ended up executing a less-than-graceful belly-whacker…
